Head Teacher, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail
Marianne’s first degree is a BA (Honours) in English and History from the University of Leeds, UK. She completed her PGCE at Trinity and All Saints College in Leeds and her CELTA at the College of Bath, UK. Marianne obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Young Learners from the University of York, United Kingdom.

Marianne has been an educator for over twenty years, having worked in the UK, Italy and Malaysia. She has taught English to both native and non-native speakers of all ages in a variety of contexts, including secondary schools, corporate settings and private institutions.

Currently the Head Teacher of Lorna Whiston, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Marianne is also involved in delivering teacher training to both local and foreign teachers.

Head Teacher, Lorna Whiston Sdn Bhd
Jill holds a Master's Degree in Theatre Arts and a PGCE in English and Drama from London University. She has spent her professional life working in communication, through education and theatre arts. Her career has spanned England, the USA, Spain, Japan and now, Malaysia.

Jill's educational experience covers teaching all ages, from lecturing at universities in the UK to teaching pre-school in Japan. In theatre arts, Jill has worked with various international touring theatre companies and acted for stage and television.

For the past 12 years Jill has been working with Lorna Whiston in a variety of capacities, including teacher training and presenting at conferences. She is a strong advocate of the Lorna Whiston educational ethos.

Deputy Head Teacher, Taman Tun Dr Ismail Centre
Michael is from Durham in the North-East of England. He has worked as a teacher for over 12 years. His first degree was from The University of Manchester where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies. Shortly after completing his degree he trained as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language and began his teaching career in Spain where he taught for four years.

After that he moved to South Korea and worked in a government middle school there, before returning to the UK to undertake a PGCE in General Primary Education at Durham University. After qualifying, he taught in numerous primary schools in the UK.

In 2013 he completed a Master’s degree in Education at Newcastle University and has worked as a Teacher and Teacher Trainer in Malaysia since then.

English Enrichment Teacher
Brendan is from Australia. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 with a Master’s degree in Teaching with specializations in English, History and ESL. Brendan also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching (University of Melbourne), as well as Bachelor degrees in both Information Management and Art (both from Monash University).

Brendan chose to move into teaching after an 8 year career in the automotive industry, and has since taught in Australia and Singapore, as well as adult international students in the Australian vocational education sector.

Speech & Drama Teacher
Clare is originally from England. She graduated from the University of Winchester, UK with a BA in Drama & Theatre Studies, as well as from the University of Reading with a PGCE in Secondary Education: Drama. Clare achieved her Qualified Teacher Status in 2012.

Since qualifying Clare has taught in a range of schools and educational settings such as state and private schools, language schools and charity organisations. She has 7 years’ experience of teaching from the ages of 3 up to adults aged 21 and she thoroughly enjoys the variety and opportunities that teaching offers to support students from an array of different backgrounds and countries.

English Enrichment Teacher
Gordon is very excited to be returning to Lorna Whiston again. He has always felt that Lorna Whiston is a nurturing community where great learning takes place.

Gordon has over 20 years experience working in Education. Teaching Very Young Learners has been the main focus of his career. His first teaching post was in the Australian outback, teaching Kindergarten in an Indigenous community. His years studying at the University of New England (Australia), undertaking a Diploma of Teaching Infants and Primary gave him a firm platform in pedagogy and children's cognitive developmental phases. Later he gained his degree with added qualifications in TESOL and Literacy at Victoria University Melbourne. Since then, he has enjoyed guiding children through the learning process in Sydney, Melbourne, Northern Ireland, Malaysia and most recently in a Preschool in Singapore.

Gordon has travelled in every state in Malaysia and enjoys cycling, trekking, baking bread and travel. Being back in Malaysia is almost like coming home.

English Enrichment Teacher
In 2006, Jill graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She started her career teaching ESL adults in Hiroshima, Japan and realised her life's calling before returning to Hawaii to care for her grandmother, who was Jill's inspiration and role model in life.

During her CELTA course in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jill earned effective teaching strategies and techniques for ESL learners. Then, she returned to Hawaii to complete her Professional Certificate in Secondary Education in English at Hawaii Pacific University. Jill taught ESL at a local primary school before teaching in South Korea for a year. More than just teaching English to her students in Malaysia, Jill hopes to instill compassion in them through the literature that's explored in the classroom so they can build a better tomorrow.

English Enrichment Teacher
Louise is from England. She has a BA (honours) in French Literature with Italian subsidiary, a postgraduate bilingual diploma from L'Institut Francais du Royaume Uni, and a PGCE from the Open University. She also has a CELTA qualification in English Language Teaching from Cambridge Regional College.

Louise taught languages in England for nearly 25 years, and most recently, spent ten years as Head of the Language Faculty at an independent boarding school in Norfolk. She has always been a passionate advocate of language learning, and brings a whole wealth of experience with her to Lorna Whiston.

English Enrichment Teacher
Samia is from Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated with a BA in English and Political Studies and went on to do an interdisciplinary postgraduate Honours in African Studies. She also obtained a TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate.

She has worked as an English teacher since 2007 and has experience teaching language, literature and ESL to primary, secondary and adult students from a variety of countries and backgrounds. She has taught in South Africa, where she also co-facilitated an educational outreach project, South Korea, Cambodia and now, Malaysia.

Sandra is from England. She graduated from Saarland University in Germany with a MA in Translation specializing in English, German and Spanish translations. She also obtained a TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate from TEFLworld at Panyadee School, Koh Samui, Thailand.

Sandra has had a bilingual upbringing in English and German and has therefore always been very passionate about languages. She has 4 years of experience working at a language school in Germany where she taught English to people of all ages.

Yvonne is from England and graduated from South Bank University with a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Social Science. She has also obtained an International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers from Cambridge University, a TEGLL Diploma (Teaching English Grammar, Language and Literature), and a TESOL Diploma (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), from London Teacher Training College in England.

Yvonne has 14 years of experience working with children in schools in England. She is passionate about teaching and strives to create a classroom environment conducive to learning, so students can be actively involved and enjoy what they are being taught.
